Why airplane windows are round

Ever wondered why the windows are round on airplanes? Well, as everything when it comes to flying - it´s no coincidence.

When flying at high altitudes the cabin must be pressurized, but at the same time, the difference in air pressure between the cabin and the outside atmosphere causes the fuselage to experience stress.

A square window’s four corners would absorb most of the stress, and make them the weak spots. By rounding the corners the weak spots are eliminated, and the fuselage absorbs the stress caused by the differences in air pressure.
